The Great Migration moves throughout the year, so there is no single month when the migration is “in Serengeti.”
The southern Serengeti and Ndutu area can be associated with the calving season, depending on rainfall and conditions. This can also provide opportunities to see young animals and increased predator activity.
The herds begin moving toward other grazing areas as seasonal conditions change.
The northern Serengeti and Mara River region can become important migration areas. This is the period commonly associated with dramatic river-crossing attempts. However, crossing activity is unpredictable.
