Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will receive a warm welcome from your Msonge Tours & Safaris representative before transfer to your hotel in Moshi. As you travel toward the hotel, enjoy beautiful views of northern Tanzania landscapes and, on clear days, the majestic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

After hotel check-in, enjoy time to rest, refresh, and prepare for your trekking adventure.

Meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing covering: route overview, safety procedures, altitude awareness, equipment check, trekking expectations, and packing recommendations. Your guide ensures all preparations are complete before the climb begins.

Breakfast at the hotel before departure toward Kilimanjaro National Park.

Drive to Marangu Gate where registration formalities and final equipment checks take place before the trek begins.

Begin trekking through lush rainforest trails toward Mandara Hut (2,700m). The rainforest section is rich with tropical vegetation, giant trees, birds, and occasional monkey sightings. The cool mountain air and peaceful forest atmosphere create a beautiful introduction to the Kilimanjaro climb. Along the route, your Msonge Tours & Safaris guides provide insights into: mountain ecosystems, local flora and fauna, trekking techniques, and altitude adaptation.

Upon arrival at Mandara Hut, enjoy tea or coffee followed by a short acclimatization walk around the surrounding area.

Continue trekking through heath and moorland landscapes toward Horombo Hut (3,720m). As the forest gradually disappears, the scenery opens into breathtaking mountain landscapes with giant lobelias, volcanic terrain, and panoramic views across northern Tanzania. The route offers excellent opportunities for photography while your guides continue monitoring acclimatization and trekking pace.

After arrival at Horombo Hut, enjoy optional acclimatization walks toward Zebra Rocks or nearby viewpoints. This additional activity helps improve altitude adaptation and increases summit success chances.

Breakfast at Horombo Hut before beginning the trek toward Kibo Hut.

Continue trekking through alpine desert landscapes toward Kibo Hut (4,700m). The environment becomes more dramatic and rugged as vegetation decreases and volcanic landscapes dominate the scenery. The route offers incredible views of Kilimanjaro’s summit glaciers, rocky formations, and vast open mountain terrain.

Lunch along the trail while preparing mentally and physically for summit night.

Upon arrival at Kibo Hut, climbers rest, hydrate, and prepare for the midnight summit attempt. Your Msonge Tours & Safaris guides provide a detailed briefing about the summit climb, pacing strategy, weather conditions, and safety procedures.
