Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO), you will receive a warm welcome from your Msonge Tours & Safaris representative before transfer to your hotel in Moshi. As you travel toward the hotel, enjoy beautiful views of northern Tanzania landscapes and, on clear days, the majestic slopes of Mount Kilimanjaro.

After check-in, enjoy time to relax, refresh, and prepare for your trekking adventure.

Meet your professional mountain guide for a detailed trek briefing covering route overview, altitude awareness, safety procedures, equipment checks, trekking preparation, and summit expectations. Your guide ensures all preparations are complete before the climb begins.

Dinner and overnight stay at the hotel in Moshi.

Breakfast at the hotel before departure toward Kilimanjaro National Park.

Drive to Lemosho Gate for registration formalities and final gear checks before beginning the trek.

Begin trekking through lush rainforest trails toward Big Tree Camp (2,650m). This beautiful forest section is rich with giant trees, tropical vegetation, birds, and occasional wildlife sightings while cool mountain air creates a peaceful trekking atmosphere. The route offers excellent opportunities for nature photography and immersion into Kilimanjaro's lower mountain ecosystems.

Upon arrival at camp, enjoy tea or coffee followed by a short acclimatization walk around the surrounding forest area.

Dinner prepared by the mountain crew followed by overnight stay at Big Tree Camp.

Breakfast at camp before continuing the ascent.

Trek through montane forest toward Shira 1 Camp (3,500m) while enjoying panoramic views and gradually changing landscapes. As the forest opens, dramatic views of the Shira Plateau begin to appear while the scenery transitions into moorland vegetation and volcanic terrain. The gradual ascent helps improve acclimatization while allowing trekkers to fully appreciate Kilimanjaro's unique mountain ecosystems.

Breakfast at camp before continuing across the Shira Plateau.

Trek across one of Kilimanjaro's most scenic areas toward Shira 2 Camp (3,840m). The route offers breathtaking views of volcanic landscapes, open moorlands, and Kibo Peak rising dramatically above the mountain terrain. The wide-open scenery creates exceptional opportunities for photography and peaceful mountain exploration.

Rest followed by an acclimatization hike guided by your mountain crew to improve altitude adaptation and prepare for higher elevations.

Dinner and overnight stay at Shira 2 Camp.

Breakfast before continuing toward Barranco Camp.

Trek through volcanic lava fields, rocky terrain, and heath zones while approaching Barranco Camp (3,950m). The route offers dramatic mountain scenery and spectacular views of Kilimanjaro's summit slopes. As the landscape changes, trekkers experience one of the mountain's most visually impressive trekking sections.

Enjoy an optional acclimatization hike and explore areas near the famous Barranco Wall with your trekking team.

Dinner and overnight stay at Barranco Camp.

Breakfast before beginning one of the most exciting sections of the trek.

Climb the famous Barranco Wall while enjoying breathtaking mountain views and dramatic volcanic scenery. Although physically demanding in certain sections, the climb is non-technical and remains one of Kilimanjaro's most memorable trekking experiences. After crossing the wall, descend into Karanga Valley before arriving at Karanga Camp (4,035m).

Breakfast before departing toward Barafu Camp.

Trek through alpine desert landscapes toward Barafu Camp (4,640m). The environment becomes increasingly rugged and dramatic with high-altitude conditions, rocky terrain, and incredible summit views.

Lunch on the trail while preparing mentally and physically for summit night.

Upon arrival at Barafu Camp, climbers rest, hydrate, and prepare equipment for the midnight summit attempt. Your Msonge Tours & Safaris guides provide a detailed summit briefing including pacing strategies, safety procedures, and weather expectations.
